DINOSAUR PLANTER Teacher Gift tutorial

Super EASY and INEXPENSIVE teacher gift!

Our family went to Dinosaur Land over Memorial Day, and I was looking up fun dinosaur crafts. This was one I found, and instantly fell in love with! I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to dinosaurs. You can see it HERE.

First, you start with plastic hollow dinosaurs. I got mine at Wal-mart for $1.

Cut the tops off with an exacto knife. Be careful. I cut myself!

I thought I was being so smart, in spray painting them.

DON'T DO THIS!!!
It stays sticky, and never dries out. I waited 2 days.

Paint them with craft paint. It takes a little longer, but works SO MUCH BETTER!

They turned out so cute, I told my mom I want to put them on my mantle in my living room! She though that was a little weird! I might just do it!

Here is a printable I made.
 And... a few more shots!!!

Tape the other side to the balloon, leaving a, "tail." Curl the, "tails," with scissors. You could fill it with anything for a party... popcorn, trail mix, small cookies, toys... Anything! You could also use any color or style of balloon you want!

Bouncing Berries GAME!

This is a perfect indoor or outdoor game. It would be great for family reunions! I ran out of time yesterday, and didn't get to share it on air.

It's called Bouncing Berries, and all you need is berry baskets, of course, the printables I designed below, and balls. I got mine at the dollar store. They were 4 for $1. I tied the tops with tulle and rickrack.

Set your baskets out however you want, and try to throw the berries in. You have to do what the label says on the front of the basket.

Here it is in my hallway.

Here are the printables.

Don't forget!!! You can still enter to win free berry baskets!

So, you get four entries in all. The drawing is open now (to people in the continental United States), and closes at 9pm Saturday, May 12.
(Please leave your name and contact info in your comments, so I can get a hold of you after you win.)

Don't forget to enter the giveaway I posted yesterday. It can be found HERE.

Now to share more cuteness with you.

If you received this package on your porch, would you be so excited? I know I would.

Forget about paper plates! If you are taking cookies to your neighbors, deliver them in a berry basket! It is much higher on the cute scale, and they will feel extra special!

My son has a robot obsession. I admit it... He is not alone in that obsession. I made this robot family, and a berry box is the perfect way to display it! He has a robot room, so I thought these would be perfect!

I used strong magnets, and covered the backs of the baskets with coordinating paper. The smallest berry box holds markers.

I got the cute calendar printable free HERE. I LOVE 3-D wall art. Remember what I did in the nursery? You can see it HERE.

I LOVE this large bamboo berry basket filled with everything mom needs for breakfast in bed on Mother's Day! A jar of homemade granola perfectly packaged with a darling wooden spoon, sits with a small milk carton. Isn't it SO ADORABLE? It will be filled with strawberry milk. I added lace for a more feminine touch. It's just what mom needs on her special day!

Look at this cute little tag! I purchased the chevron file HERE, then added my own words in picasa. It was super easy, and the chevron tags come in 12 colors!

Do you have a sweet mother or grandmother who likes to crochet? How fun to give her a basket filled with a new crochet pattern geared to her interests, crochet hooks and yarn! She will be so happy you thought of her! By the way... could you just die over the little Dutch girl crochet pattern? I purchased it HERE.

For the gardener on your list,  fill a berry basket with a strawberry grow kit, garden gloves, shovel, rake, and a darling little chalkboard garden marker! Everything was purchased in the Target dollar section, and makes for a super cute gift!

I mentioned yesterday that my son turns 8 this month. Well, I am planning a ninja party, and this cardboard berry box is PERFECT to hold all the food and favors! It has a sturdy handle, so the children will be able to carry it easily. I will be sharing the party details in a few weeks. I am already ready to go though!

I hope you are feeling berry inspired! I also hope you will tune into Studio 5 tomorrow at 11 for even more berry basket inspiration!

Berry Baskets, Part 1 {GIVEAWAY}

I have something so exciting in store for you today!!! I am sharing my new obsession with you

BERRY BASKETS!!!

Yes, berry baskets! I have a whole pinterest board dedicated to them. You can see it HERE.

Before I get into the details of the cute things they are filled with, I have some good news! Glacier Valley is giving 20 of these DARLING blue berry baskets to two lucky winners! All you have to do to enter, is:

1) Like Glacier Valley on facebook. The link is HERE. One entry.
2) Visit Glacier Valley's website HERE, and tell me in a comment what you like. One entry.
3) Follow my blog. One entry.
4) Like restlessrisa on facebook HERE. One entry.

So, you get four entries in all. The drawing is open now (to people in the continental United States), and closes at 9pm Friday, May 11.
(Please leave your name and contact info in your comments, so I can get a hold of you after you win.)

A word about Glacier Valley. I was BLOWN away by all the packaging products they carry. My head was spinning! They have a basket or container for any need! If you don't feel you need a large quantity of something, you can e-mail them to request a catalog, or a smaller quantity quote, but I say go in on it with a friend/s (or not), and get the large order! It will be SO MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE than ordering them individually on etsy for example. Did I mention the owners are so very nice? Well, they are. Check them out! You will be so happy you did!

Now for the cuteness!!!

This basket is extra fun and full of paper strawberries that can be filled with candy or sweet little notes! The template for the strawberries is found HERE. This would work great for any occasion, including a teacher appreciation gift!

This basket works as a deep cleaning chore organizer for the year. You could also use it for coupons, or anything you have that you want to file. It was made using scrapbook paper cut to fit into the berry basket, a flower punch, circle punch, hand written labels, and mini clothespins from the craft store.

For the mom in your life who loves jewelry, give her some berries she can wear!

This darling little printable will melt her heart.

My son is turning eight this month, and we are having a family luncheon for him in June, where I will be serving some of his favorite foods. How much more adorable is it if the foods he likes are all packaged nicely in a berry basket? Notice the two donuts on the skewer make the number 8? Yes, he loves junk food :)

You can make your own tag with your child's favorite things listed as well! I made mine in picasa using a free chevron background I found HERE. I will say it again, the background is free! Don't you love it when people share the chevron love!

Wouldn't it be fun if you were planning a date night for your significant other, and left this little basket filled with everything you need for s'mores in his or her car in the morning, inviting him/her on a date with you? It would even be fun for a family night! The marshmallows are strawberry shaped and chocolate filled (from Wal-mart). Perfect for a berry basket!

Berry candy is perfect for a berry basket as well!I picked these up at Ben Franklin in Kaysville, UT.

It would be so fun to give a grandchild, niece, nephew, or one of your kids friends a basket filled with fresh or candy berries, and a copy of this DARLING book, Blueberries for Sal? It is one of my favorites. You can preview it HERE. It is SO ADORABLE!

I have another giveaway opening tomorrow, and will be showing these and more berry basket ideas on Studio 5 on Wed. this week. I hope you will come back for tomorrow's giveaway, and tune into Studio 5 Wed. at 11, channel 5 (if you are in Utah). If not, I will post a link to my segment on line the same day.

Please tell your friends about this giveaway, and don't forget to enter!!!

Cinco de Mayo

Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo tomorrow? I am, and thought I would bring a little hostess gift to our friends. I was at Wal-mart this morning at 5:30 - yup, it's the best time to go there. In their seasonal section, I found this great barbecue tray, a dish towel, food tent, and bamboo skewers. These friends like to barbecue, so I thought it would be perfect. The colors seem to work for the holiday.
I had to make it cute, so I tied it with a bunch of tulle and ribbon scraps I have laying around.
I even made a little printable in picasa. I found the clip art HERE.

If you are going to a Cinco de Mayo party, take a minute to make your hostess feel special!

I hope you have a Happy and Safe Cinco de Mayo!
