DIY Lemonade Stand!

Today, I am going to show you how I made a lemonade stand using a $10 thrifted table and some spray paint!

 First things first...

I am thrilled to announce the winner of the fabulous photography package! The lovely Leslie from Filter Printing and Photography, put the names in a bowl, and drew one out.

And the winner is... Wendy Deeds, who said:

I NEED to win this photo session!! I have never had a professional picture done of my family and my poor 2 1/2 year old isn't in any of our pictures. I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to win!!

Congratulations Wendy! I know where you live ;) so I will be contacting you.

Remember, even if you didn't win, you can mention, "Restless Risa," when you contact Leslie, and receive $25 off you own photography session! You will never regret having a beautiful family picture taken! You can visit Leslie's blog HERE.

Now for the...

DIY LEMONADE STAND

So, I have been wanting to post photos of my lemonade stand for a while now, and today, I finally am! Yes... I made this in May, and it is now July - I have been a little busy!

Everything you see, EVERYTHING, was from DI, with exception of the apron, which was an old curtain I got at Saver's, and the 1x4 side posts, which I had in my garage already.

Wanna see how it all started? I got this table for $10, the plaques for $1 and $2 each, and the drawered shelf for $3. I had a vision!

I took the scrolled piece off the back, and spray painted everything.

Including the 1x4's from my garage,

and the small plaque which I spray painted with chalk paint.

The day I took pictures, it was raining, so I got a few shots in the garage.

Do you like the candy jars? They were all from DI, and I didn't pay more than $1 each. The small ones were $.50. SO CUTE, right? I think they really make the whole thing! Okay, the jug was from Wal-mart, and I made the banner with paper and ribbon I already had... I forgot.

Do you LOVE the apron? Like I mentioned, I made it out of an old curtain I bought from Saver's a long time ago. I love it when I buy something, not knowing why, and then end up using it for something fabulous!

Here it is in action! Do you like the spelling on the chalkboard? I LOVE IT!

A lemonade stand wouldn't be a lemonade stand without support from our darling neighbors! We love the Giles kids (and ALL our neighbors)!

See the bar stools? They were $5 each at IKEA, and I got 3 of them!

Moral of the blog post is...
You should make your kids a lemonade stand!
They will LOVE it, and it will entertain them for hours! It will be a fun memory, and your kids will think you are awesome! I made the whole thing, start to finish, in one day.

Have a Happy and Creative Day!

CAMP KICKOFF!!! {Girls Camp}

Girls Camp is in a little over a week, and I can't wait!We had our camp kickoff a few weeks ago, and I thought I would share a few of the photos with you! We had all the wards make a flag that will be at their ward's camp site, and bring it to the kickoff. These are the flags. They are on pvc posts, and will be held up using re-bar at camp. The wards were asked to make their flag in the size of a king-sized pillow sham, using their ward's name, theme and color.

If you remember my post about 3'x4' photo enlargements, we decided to do the same thing for each ward. They will be displayed near the amphitheater at camp. I can't wait to show you how we will display them.

The girls each got to sign their name on their wards poster. They loved doing this, and were so excited to see the photos at kickoff!

We had tables set up with our camp logo printed on 4"x6" photos. We asked each girl to write on the back, what she would do to, "let her light shine." They wrote so many sweet things.

See how there are holes punched in the top? These will be strung up along with cut up reusable shopping bag pieces that are cut in the same size as the logo photos into a banner, that will hang in the pavilion, so the girls can see what each other wrote on the back. I am really excited for this!

We gave them each a little print out of our camp scripture/theme, which is:

Lisa got a bag of toe rings from Panda Hall for $4. They have suns on them. So, we thought it was fitting, and we made a little hand-out for each girl.

We had the YCL's do a little skit, which included a stomp for the scripture. We played games, sang fun camp songs, including going on a, "lion hunt." We then had a few spiritual thoughts, and closed with the girls singing our camp theme song. It was so awesome to hear their sweet voices, and the beautiful words of that song. I would by lying if I said I didn't get a little teary when I heard them sing this for the first time. I am not in Young Women's, so I haven't heard them practice every week. It was a real treat!

You can listen HERE.

These are the words:

Light On A Hill
From the CD “Arise and Shine Forth” by Jenny Phillips

You are just one light in the darkness
Traveling by faith
But just one light
Is hope to the ones who’ve lost their way

You are a light on a hill
It cannot be hidden
Cannot be still
Sharing His light
‘Til the whole world is filled
You are a light on a hill

In a world that’s lost and lonely
Heaven works through you
Bringing hope to those who are searching
For the truth

Chorus

Father rejoices on high
For the beauty that fills up your life
In all that you do
You have been true
And others can see Him through you

Chorus

MARSHMALLOW GUN!

Are your kids bored? Are you looking for something to entertain them that is cheap and easy? I have your solution to summer boredom right here! I saw this for the first time on the blog of my friend Brooke Macfarlane. I thought it was the best idea ever!!! Thanks Brooke!
My kids thought it was the best idea as well, and have already spent hours with their guns, since we made them yesterday!
Dad even looked like he felt a little left out, so we made one for him too :)

 Here is what you need:

1/2" pvc pipe. I paid $1.68 for 10 feet.
You will be able to get many guns out of one piece.
2 elbows 1/2"
2 caps 1/2"
2 T's 1/2"

I looked at both Home Depot and Lowe's, and Lowe's was less by almost half for the fittings. Be sure not to buy the threaded pieces, as they are more expensive. The fittings should cost around $.28 per piece at Lowe's. The pipe cost the same.
Use a pvc cutter. If you don't have one, your neighbor probably will. It is a little tricky learning how to ratchet the blade down, but it cuts a very clean line.

Cut:

5 - 3" pieces
1 - 7" piece
1 - 1" piece

Put the pieces together, (kids can do this)buy a bag of mini marshmallows, and you are ready to go! Be sure to place the marshmallow in the top of the gun, and blow hard! We didn't glue them together, and my son has been taking his apart, and putting it back in different and creative ways.

What do I do while they are all shooting marshmallows??? Mug on the baby of course! Lucky me!

Craft Wars Viewing Party

Last night I went to a Craft Wars viewing party for an AMAZING fellow blogger Mandi, from Vintage Revivals, who was on the show! The lovely and talented Bridget hosted. You can check out her blog HERE. I should have gotten a picture with her!

Look at the cake in the above photo. Can you believe how awesome it is? It was made by Ashlee from http://imtopsyturvy.com/ She rocks!

Did I mention...
I WANT TO BE ON THIS SHOW!
Well, I do! Are any producers out there??? Do you read me???

I got to have a few photos with my gals.

Kirsten Crafting Chicks, Me, Mandi (star of the show) Vintage Revivals, Amy Pink Parlor Designs. I love Kirsten and Amy and have met them before. I had never met Mandi before (although we did a segment for Studio 5 together), and she is amazingly warm and kind. Did you know she also did the Nate show??? She is super talented. You would think it would have all gone to her head, but it hasn't. She is AWESOME!

At blogger parties, there is swag and there are drawings. I happened to win the best prize there!!! Do you believe my luck!?! The prize was given by Brittney of One Charming Party, and Bake it Pretty. Her party blog is one of my favorites, and a couple years back, a bunch of friends and I got together to make a bunch of Thanksgiving crafts she had shown on her blog. She has an eye for amazing. Her baking line is also amazing! I am so lucky to get to meet her!

This is a photo of all the bloggers who won something!

Oh what a fun  night!

Thanks Bridget! You are amazing, you fun girl!

You can see Mandi's write-up HERE.
