Trick-or-Treat night & My Porch

I live it Utah, and yes... we trick-or-treat here on Saturday night if Halloween falls on a Sunday. Last night was trick-or-treat night here. It was soaking wet, but the kids still had fun!

This is how the entry part of my porch looked all month:

The witch legs were from Ben Franklin. They were $5.99 each. I inserted wire hangers in them, and put them upside down in my pots. I also filled each pot with gourds.

I used the same wreath I had in the spring. I just removed the blossoms and replaced them with a cut up candy corn garland from Taipan. I swapped out the ribbon, and hung a skeleton in place of our "B" monogram.

Part one of the trick-or-treat night transformation.
The Jack-O-Lanterns!

Part two, moving some of the inside stuff out...

Imagine, "Oggie Boggie," from, Nightmare Before Christmas on repeat blasting on the porch.

Did I mention it poured??? I opened the door to
cute little soaking wet trick-or-treaters all night.

Whew... it's over, and I have to admit... I am EXCITED to take down all the Halloween decor. I have already started. I can't wait for Thanksgiving, and setting up Christmas in four weeks!

What would I ever do without holidays???

K, I have to be realistic... the baby is coming in just over two months... I am just hoping I can have enough energy to have everything look just the way I want it to look, and be able to put it up and take it down when I want to. Wish me luck!

Have a Happy and Creative Day!

New SPRING Wreath I Made

I have been thinking about what I wanted on my porch for a while. I wanted to pull in the colors of my pots and flowers, but not detract from them either. This is what I came up with...
I got the wreath at Ben Franklin for $6, and used a 40% off coupon! (Best part!) If you even need a Ben Franklin coupon, you can find theme here.

I bought cherry blossom 6 stems and cut them up. They were on sale for 40% off of $3.99 each. I just stuck them in the wreath randomly.

I bought a letter for $3, and a sheet of coordinating paper for $.99. I traced the paper using the letter, cut it out, and taped it on. I was going to mod podge, but I have other plans for the letter for the near future, so I didn't want to do anything so permanent. Also, my porch is protected, so it shouldn't get wet. I hooked everything together with ribbon. Last night, it was bugging my husband when he was using the door, because the letter was clanging around. So, I just put a command strip behind it, and... problem solved!

Easter Pillows For The Porch

I decided while I was at it today, that I would make a few pillows for the porch bench. I already had the blue and green one from last year, but I wanted a few more to tie in with my Easter decor, and my flowers. So, I ran to Hobby Lobby and got the orange and the pink fabric. Hobby Lobby recently got a new line of fabric in, and I am IN LOVE with it. I was glad to have a excuse to buy some!

I put zippers in them, so I could easily wash them, and change them for the next holiday.

I LOVE spring time! I feel so happy in my heart today!

Giant carrot Easter decoration on my front door

I got this idea from my friend Kami to make a huge carrot for my front door, and I just couldn't wait. I didn't want to spend a ton of money, as I didn't even know if it would work or not. I looked around the house to see what I had, and this is what I found.

If you are going to do this project, you will need:

1 piece foam core
Masking or duct tape
Popsicle sticks
Orange Burlap
Green tulle
Green pipe-cleaners
Decorative ribbon
Paper

1) Cut foam core in 1/2 lengthwise, then to desired size and shape.
2) Hook foam core together with Popsicle sticks and tape at center seam.

3) Cut burlap strips into desired width and length.

4) Wrap burlap around carrot form, and attach with tape in back.
(You could glue. I was out of glue sticks, so I taped, and it is holding very well.)
5) Poke hole in the top with a knife.

6) Thread pipe-cleaner through hole and make a knot.
Depending on how long you want it to hang, you may want to attach another pipe-cleaner, and make a place at the top for the whole thing to hang. I made a circle out of the pipe-cleaner.
7) Fold tulle in 1/2, and tape it to the back. Wrap and tuck it around the pipe-cleaner.
8) Print off the sign, and mount in on whatever paper you like.
9) Attach it to a ribbon, and hang the sign on the carrot.
