Cornbread muffins...

The boot picks are from Hobby Lobby.

The kids were expecting cupcakes, and I don't think they loved these.



Marshmallow on a stick with chocolate and crushed almonds.

Remember when I made pink ones for my daughter???

The only thing I would have done differently, is left a few without nuts, for kids with allergies.

Hello Spring! Table Top Tuesday!

For this week's Table Top Tuesday, I decided to show the table at the top of my stairs. The lighting is fair, but I did my best.

I like more subdued colors in the fall and winter, but I was ready for a change!

These are a few of my favorite pieces from the table, the cute bird,

And this lovely real geode crystal candle holder my sister gave me for my birthday.

It was time for a change, and I am so glad!!!

Everything on the whole table (besides what my sister gave me) either came from Tia Pan Trading, or the DI.

Table Top Tuesday - Paper Placemats

I set this table a while a go for a church function, and thought I would post it for Table Top Tuesday's, on a Stroll Thru Life.

The theme I was given was Spring. I wanted to do something a little unexpected. I didn't want to spend the money on place mats, but wanted to add a punch of color. So, I used 12x12 scrapbook paper. It is very inexpensive, and adds so much interest!

I also made coasters out of coordinating and contrasting paper.

I sometimes like to set a note at each person's place when I host a special dinner. I didn't know who was going to sit at this table, so I just put out cards.

I used my mom's dishes and goblets. The napkins are mine. I thought it turned out fun. The best part... I was able to use the paper later for a different project!

Spring Table with Russian Dolls!

This table is like the spring weather... warm and cold all at the same time. Let me start with my most favorite set of dishes. My mom got these for me for my birthday in December. I had intended to use them just for Christmastime, but when it came time to take them down... I couldn't do it! So, I left the plates on a plate rack in my kitchen, and left the salt and pepper shakers on my stove top. They still make me happy, happy, happy every time I look at them!

Hum... I wonder if I hold the record for the most pictures of my salt and pepper shakers in one blog entry. Well, it's my blog, I can do what I want - right?

I was looking at a blog the other day, and saw a blog where the lady always uses the glass apothecary's, and I thought to myself, "I think I need one of those." Well, I went to DI today, and what happened to be sitting there with a $2 sticker? This cute glass apothecary! I tell you, the DI will give you what you are looking for if you put it out there in the universe :)



Now, on to the second part of this post:

When I saw this blog entry on one of my very favorite blogs, Tater tots and Jello, I thought to myself... "Why couldn't I have thought of that???" She had the most darling, happy table runner, tutorial that she posted. So I talked to a few of my sewing friends, and we knew we each HAD to have one. We got together the other night, and had fun making them. You can find a link to the tutorial here.

I just bought burlap, and 15 different 1/8-of-a-yard strips of fabric, rickrack, cotton backing, and quilt binding.

Didn't it turn out SOOOO cute! I love it! Thanks for the great idea Tater tots and Jello!

By the way... we each went to a particular fabric store at different times, and happened to get the same lady to help us with the cutting, and by the time the third one of us got the same measurements cut, she knew exactly why. She even wrote down the name of the blog so she could check it out!

And now back to the dishes! I couldn't not post pictures of each one. They are all hand painted, and SO DARLING!


Hum... maybe I should give each of them a good Russian name...

Formal Dining room Easter table

My cute girlfriends and I decided that we wanted to make Easter trees for our houses. We didn't want to spend much money. So... when we saw a pile of pruning on the side of the road last week, we loaded the branches into the minivan, and off we went! We each got a vase out of our pantries, filled it with rocks, stuck the twigs in, and hung eggs on the branches.

Christine donated a nest to each of us, and I really think it makes the whole tree! Candy picked up the little fluffy birds from Michael's. Aren't they just SO cute?!?

I have been excited about the setting it's self for a long time now. The cabbage leaves are from Tai pan. The bowls are from DI, and I spent $1.50 each!!! The goblets are also from DI, and cost around $1. I can't remember exactly. The bunny napkin rings are from Hobby Lobby, and I made the napkins for my Valentines table, but they work here as well. I picked up the plants that are in each bowl last year from Michael's on clearance for like $1.50, I think. I love setting a cute table for a great price!
